Home Base
The goal of Home Base is to make everything in baseball operations more digitally capable using visual systems. This starts by connecting all the different first person perspectives of the catchers, coaches, and players with heads-up display cameras. Then by making all of the gear smart with sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and compasses and connecting the bases as well we will actually be able to get more discernible performance and results data instantly and simply. The aim of this project is not to turn them into robots but rather to fully capture the amazing skills and work ethic of some of the most athletic people in the world. Below are videos and visual graphics that demonstrate what kind of technologies and systems could be used to improve the baseball experience. Catchers for instance could see animations of mph, innings, replay, men on base and hot zones for each individual hitter. Paired with wearable tech like the myo armband (video below) and other wearable technology players could also control their heads-up display systems making it easier to communicate with both other players and the fans. With addition of cameras, fans will also gain a first perspective of the game through the eyes of the players revolutionizing the entertainment capabilities of the sport.
